API Cancels Remote Exams

API have informed examination candidates that the Remote Testing option will no longer be offered, applying to all API 510, 570 and 653 exam cycles commencing in September 2024.

At this stage, information is scarce – there is some information on the ‘Updates’ section of the API website (see HERE). Anecdotally, some students have received emails stating that ‘instant scoring’ will no longer be available.

The greatest impact will be to students with a September 2024 examination for API 510. If you cannot find an examination slot for you to re-schedule to an in-person examination at a Prometric Center, we recommend that you first email API at both and

  • You will need to ask them to provide additional testing positions to account for the increased number of test takers.
  • In addition, try contacting Prometric by submitting a web-based form. Our experience however is that they will refer you to the API email addresses above.
  • For those in Western Australia, the ideal solution would be for Prometric to re-open their center in Perth. We do not have any indication this will occur however, we recommend that you include this in your above correspondence to both API and Prometric.

For those with other examinations later in the year we recommend you re-book your exam as soon as possible in order to secure your in-person examination at a Prometric center. If examination slots are not available in your preferred city, try another center. The Oceania centers are Sydney, Melbourne, Auckland, Jakarta, Singapore, Manila, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur.

We will keep this post updated when we receive further information.
